Péter Ger?cs was born in Budapest, in 1985. By the time he published his first book in 2010, titled?Zombor and the Universe?(Zombor és a világ),?he had been editing two periodicals and awarded the "íróiskola" prize of the Ulpius-ház Publishing House. He represented Hungary on the European First Book Festival in 2012 with his first book. During the same year he also published his second book, titled?Objects?(Tárgyak). This book includes stories and short stories just like his first book, but contrary to that, a new interest appears in the focus of the texts: memory. In the sense of mental handicap, like recalling a memory with challenge and considering the cultural inheritance, which is a benefit and a drag at the same time. A critic writer of the book remarked: "Péter Ger?cs is maybe the most multi-faceted writer in his generation." In 2013 he published his first novel:?The House of Ill Health?(A betegség háza). Since then the book has became curriculum in the most prestigious Hungarian university. This novel is a thorough investigation into the question of memory. Gy?rgy Dragomán wrote about the story: "Ger?cs's novel is a sensitive and duly demented trip that tugs us deep into the vortices of the mind."?The novel may be read as a psychological crime novel:?one angry, lonely and vacant journalist starts winding up his own story to figure out his own misanthropy. His personal diaries reveal his adolescence, as he struggles to recall his love affairs, narcissism permeating his journalist career, a belated, unexpressed and all the more treasured love for his mentor. At the darkest and most unexpected twists of the story a shady friend, familiar yet mysterious, keeps turning up as a sort of living conscience or alterego to exacerbate the protagonist's heightening hatred.

　　In 2011 Ger?cs has produced a feature length documentary, titled?Private Mész?ly?(Privát Mész?ly) in which he interviewed key representatives of contemporary Hungarian literature about their mentor, Miklós Mész?ly. Since then the film was presented on numerous occasions.

　　In 2013 he received the Hungarian Cultural Fund scholarship for professionals (NKA alkotói ?szt?ndíj) and became member of the Belletrist Association Society (Szépírók Társasága).

　　Péter Ger?cs is currently enrolled in the aesthetic PhD programme?at E?tv?s Loránd University.
